Rechargeable vs Refillable Vape Devices Explained

Rechargeable and refillable describe different product characteristics. A rechargeable device has a battery that can receive power again. A refillable device has a reservoir designed by its manufacturer to be opened and replenished.

What rechargeable means

The term refers to the battery. An integrated all-in-one may be rechargeable so the battery can operate through the product’s intended life.

What refillable means

The term refers to the reservoir or pod. A product should not be described as refillable unless its listing or manufacturer information expressly identifies that design.

Do not infer one from the other

A rechargeable device is not automatically refillable. Do not open, alter, refill or add substances to a vaping product unless the manufacturer expressly designed and instructed the product for that purpose.

How listings should present the distinction

A useful listing should state the product format, rechargeable status, included components and whether separate hardware is required. Missing details should be clarified before purchase.
